Summary:
At the beginning, we see the continuation of Orochimaru’s and Sasuke’s fight. After the opening, there’s a memory of Sarutobi and Orochimaru visiting his parents tomb. He finds a white snake’s skin, a symbol of good luck and renewal in the ancient times. The Third Hokage says that it could be a sign that his parents were born again and that maybe Orochimaru will meet them again someday. Orochimaru smiles then.
After this, it shows Orochimaru in the middle of a battle. Nawaki, Tsunade’s younger brother, is eager to fight but is caught by an enemy’s explosion and dies. The collar Tsunade gave him falls near Orochimaru’s feet. The scene from episode 91, when Tsunade goes to see her brother’s death body is showed replayed, now in Orochimaru’s perspective. Next, another scene from episode 91: Orochimaru is looking for Tsunade’s team. When he finds them, Tsunade screams for not being able to save Dan’s life. Orochimaru closes his eyes, reflecting about how fragil human beings are.
After this, Orochimaru is in his laboratory with Anko, who asks him about the white snake’s skin. He explains that it’s an amulet of good luck and renewal. She question him, saying that even if he’s earnest about his research he can’t bring back the dead. He agrees and say that, even if he can’t bring back the dead, he grasped a good clue about regeneration. He says that activating the human body, we become immensely powerful, thus elevating our regenarative powers too. Orochimaru takes the snake’s skin from Anko’s hands and say that, one day, he’ll share that power with her. Anko smiles and thank him. He’s thinking about the cursed seal.
Orochimaru sees someone training at the academy during the night. There are some bows with kunais pointed to a iluminated pedestal in the center of the arena, several threads connected with the pedestal. A boy (obviously Itachi) throws two kunais at the threads, activating the bows, that launch several kunais at him. Orochimaru wants to interfere, thinking there’s a limit for reckless training, but then Itachi jumps and avoid a great number of kunais and throwing other two to stop another pair launched at him. He uses a bar as support and jump again, avoiding a great number of kunais and landing in the pedestal unharmed. Orochimaru is fascinated by the Sharingan’s power, looking hungrily at Itachi.
The next scene shows Orochimaru in a restricted library, researching forbidden jutsus, specially the Transfering Jutsu. He wonders how many jutsus there is to learn and concludes that not in a lifetime he would be able to learn all of them, only if he became immortal. After that, we see the scene where the Third Hokage finds out Orochimaru’s secret lab and tries to stop him.
Next, we see Jiraya trying to make Orochimaru reconsider, but he’s intent in finding immortality, even using Akatsuki to achieve his goal. The following scene shows the time when Itachi joins Akatsuki. Orochimaru recognises him immediately.
Later, he tries to use the Transfering Body Jutsu to take Itachi’s body, but Itachi stops him using a paralyzing genjutsu. Orochimaru is marveled by the abilities of the Sharingan and tries to attack Itachi again, but he cuts his hand off. He says that any jutsu used by Orochimaru will be useless before his Sharingan. Then, we see the moment where Sasuke joins Orochimaru, who thinks that his future is in Sasuke’s body.
The next scene is back to their fight. Sasuke thinks he’d won, but Orochimaru stands and starts the Transfering Ritual, in a parallel dimension inside Orochimaru’s body. What seems to be flesh surrounds Sasuke. Orochimaru wonder about the Sharingan again, comparing this encounter with the one with Itachi, feeling paralyzed by a genjutsu again. Even so, he tries to approach Sasuke. Then we see Kabuto in his laboratory, thinking about the Transfering ritual. He goes to Orochimaru’s room and sees Sasuke immobile, in the middle of the room. He calls Kabuto and exit the room. Kabuto asks him which one he is… Sasuke responds showing him what happened in the ritual. Orochimaru can’t believe he’s losing control of the space, but Sasuke
repeats Itachi’s words, saying that any jutsu used by Orochimaru will be useless before his Sharingan. The place starts to crumble and Orochimaru is absorbed by Sasuke’s will, unable to accept the situation.
Next, we see Anko and other two shinobi on patrol. She senses a presence and throws a junai. She hits a white snake, and touches her cursed seal. In the next scene, Naruto is standing on the Hokage’s Monument, wandering about the clouds strange movements. Scene cuts to Tsunade, on the Hokage’s power, thinking that it almost seems… Scene cut to Jiraya, thinking that the sunset seems flaming-red, like blood. Then, we see a hawk flying above Itachi and Kisame walking through a dead forest. Itachi stops, watching the night sky. Kisame question him but he says there’s nothing and they keep walking. A shooting star falls behind when Itachi turns away.
We’re back to Sasuke and Kabuto. Kabuto says Orochimaru’s dead, but Sasuke explains that he took all of Orochimaru. Sasuke walks away, leaving a stunned Kabuto behind.
In the preview, we see Sasuke freeing Suigetsu.
Next episode: “Zabuza’s Blade”.
Opinions and Comments
Yey, fillers are finally over! Now we’re getting somewhere… I hope them don’t do like Satelight and put fillers in the middle of such an important arc. I mean, I know it’s to prevent the anime and the manga to be running the same thing but Naruto’s manga is way ahead. Time to work in the storyline guys, come on… Anyway, about this episode, I liked the additional memories of Orochimaru (in the manga Masashi Kishimoto did only the one with him and the Third Hokage). And the animation wasn’t crappy like in the previous episodes. We’re improving, finally! Now, some screenshots!
I liked this scene, I loved in the manga and in love now in the anime. A teacher-student soft moment. And I was missing the Third. He reminds me of my own grandpa (luv u old man)…

It’s so difficult to think how such an adorable creature would become so… yuckie. I feel sad for Orochimaru…

Again, I’m feeling sad for Orochimaru. He DOES have a heart (twisted, sadistic heart but, oh well…).

CHIBI ITACHI!!!!!! *hugs senseless* I loooooved this scene! The awesomeness of Chibi Itachi!!! YEY!! *fangirl heart attack*

….Aaaaaand Orochimaru looking like a pedophile. All sad feelings for him going down the drain. How dare he look at chibi Itachi with such an expression only I can look at chibi Itachi like that, hunf!

Even thought he’s a crazy ‘n obsessed man, I have to give my kudos for Orochimaru. He read tons of parchments to learn all that kinjutsus… And I don’t have patience to read three books per semester.

MOAR ITACHI!!!!!!!!!!! *fangirl squeal*

…Ew. Orochimaru’s Transfering Body Ritual reminds me of Naraku’s trus form. Very yuckie.

LOL, Orochimaru looks like a Muk!
